Does Electrolit Have Caffeine? A Straight Answer (2026)

No. Electrolit does not contain caffeine. Not the bottled drink, not the powder packets, not Electrolit Zero. The brand says it plainly in its own FAQ: "No, Electrolit does not contain caffeine."

That is the whole answer for most people. But if you searched this, you are probably really asking one of three things: will it give me energy, can I drink it at night, or what should I reach for if I want caffeine and electrolytes in the same drink. Here is each one, with real numbers.

The short answer, product line by product line

Electrolit sells three product lines in the US, and none of them carries caffeine:

Electrolit product Caffeine per serving Source
Instant Hydration bottles (21 fl oz, every flavor) 0 mg None
Electrolyte Powder packets 0 mg None
Electrolit Zero (zero sugar bottles) 0 mg None

That table is worth spelling out because most pages answering this question only talk about the bottles. The powder packets and the Zero line are caffeine free too. The confirmation comes straight from the official FAQ at electrolit.com, and no ingredient list in any of the three lines includes a caffeine source.

What is actually in an Electrolit bottle

Here is the printed ingredient list for Electrolit Grape, as listed on retailer product pages:

Purified Water, Glucose. Less Than 2% Of: Sodium Lactate, Potassium Chloride, Citric Acid, Molasses, Magnesium Chloride, Natural Grape Flavor, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Stevia, FD&C Red Color No. 40, FD&C Blue Color No. 1.

Read it twice if you want. There is no coffee, tea, guarana, yerba mate, or added caffeine anywhere on it. The formula is water, glucose, and four electrolyte minerals: sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium.

The numbers that matter, per 12 fl oz serving of the Grape flavor: 250 mg of sodium and 18 g of sugar. A 21 fl oz bottle holds 1.75 servings, so finishing the whole bottle means roughly 440 mg of sodium and about 31 g of sugar.

Two label details worth noting while you are back there. Most Electrolit flavors use synthetic dyes (Grape lists Red 40 and Blue 1), and the formula includes citric acid. If either of those is on your avoid list, we keep running lists of electrolytes without artificial dyes and electrolytes without citric acid.

Why Electrolit has no caffeine: it was never an energy drink

This is the part the ranking pages skip. Electrolit is not a sports drink company that decided to leave caffeine out. It started in 1950 in the labs of Grupo Pisa, which the brand describes as Latin America's top pharmaceutical company, as a rehydration solution for children, and the brand states the formula is "Inspired by the World Health Organization's standards for Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS)". That is pharmacy science: a specific ratio of glucose and electrolytes that speeds water absorption in the small intestine.

Caffeine has no job in that formula. Electrolit sits in the cooler next to the big energy drink cans, and the bottle looks the part, which is exactly why so many people ask this question. But by design it is closer to a hospital rehydration drip in a bottle than to anything in the energy aisle.

Full disclosure of our own bias here: GREEN's formula is built on the same science. If you want the mechanism explained, our guide to Oral Rehydration Therapy covers why the sodium and glucose pairing works.

How Electrolit compares on caffeine

Using each brand's own published numbers, plus FDA figures for coffee:

Drink Caffeine per serving Caffeine source
Electrolit (all products) 0 mg None
Gatorade 0 mg None
Pedialyte 0 mg None
LMNT, standard flavors 0 mg None
LMNT Lemonade Iced Tea 50 mg Organic black tea
Nuun Sport + Caffeine 40 mg Green tea extract
Liquid I.V. Energy Multiplier 100 mg Matcha and guarana
GREEN Hot Mix or Cold Mix 180 mg Raw green coffee beans
Brewed coffee, 12 oz 113 to 247 mg Coffee beans

The coffee range and the daily ceiling come from the FDA's consumer guidance on caffeine: a 12 ounce brewed coffee typically contains 113 to 247 mg, and 400 mg a day is the amount the FDA cites as not generally associated with negative effects in healthy adults. The LMNT figure comes from LMNT's ingredients page, and the full brand by brand rundown lives in our do electrolytes have caffeine overview.

Why people ask this in the first place

  • "Will Electrolit give me energy?" Not stimulant energy. There is no caffeine to deliver it. If you feel better after a bottle, that is rehydration working, which is real but different. Anyone expecting a coffee style lift will not find it here.
  • "Can I drink Electrolit at night?" Yes. With zero caffeine in every product, timing does not matter for sleep. The sugar is the only thing to budget, at 18 g per 12 oz serving in the classic bottles.
  • "Can I mix Electrolit with an energy drink?" People do, and search data shows the Red Bull and Electrolit combination is a real question. Nothing in Electrolit conflicts with caffeine. Just count the caffeine honestly: it all comes from the energy drink side, and it lands in the same FDA 400 mg daily budget as your coffee. The European Food Safety Authority puts caffeine's half life at roughly 2 to 8 hours, commonly summarized as about 5 (EFSA Journal 2015;13(5):4102), so an afternoon can is still partly active at bedtime.
  • "Is there a caffeinated version of Electrolit?" No. As of 2026 the brand does not sell one in any line. If one drink that covers both jobs is what you are after, that product category does exist, and it is the next section.

If you want the caffeine and the electrolytes in one cup

This is us, so read it with that in mind.

GREEN Organic Hydration is a USDA Certified Organic daily drink mix with 180 mg of natural caffeine from raw green coffee beans, roughly three shots of espresso, with an electrolyte formula based on the science of Oral Rehydration Therapy. It was a NEXTY Award finalist for Best New Organic Product at Expo West 2024, and it is the only USDA Organic electrolyte we know of that includes natural caffeine. The Hot Mix is a cacao drink you make with hot water in the morning. The caffeinated electrolyte drinks guide lays out every real option with mg numbers.

Quick answers

  • Does Electrolit have caffeine? No. Every Electrolit product is caffeine free, confirmed by the brand's own FAQ.
  • Does Electrolit Zero have caffeine? No. Zero refers to sugar, and the caffeine count is also zero.

  • Will Electrolit keep me awake? No. With 0 mg of caffeine, it has no stimulant effect on sleep.
  • Is Electrolit an energy drink? No. It is an oral rehydration style beverage created by a pharmaceutical company in 1950, long before the energy aisle existed.
  • What has both caffeine and electrolytes? GREEN delivers 180 mg of green coffee bean caffeine with a full electrolyte profile based on ORT in one cup. For more options with real numbers, see our caffeinated electrolyte drinks guide.

The bottom line

Electrolit is caffeine free everywhere it is sold, in every flavor and every product line, and that is on purpose: it is a rehydration formula from a pharmaceutical company, not an energy drink. If hydration is the only job, it does that job. If you searched this because you want the lift and the hydration in a single drink, zero mg will not get you there. GREEN is designed to be exactly that: one organic cup that replaces coffee with clean energy and hydration, with the electrolytes already in it.
